  1980. While still at artschool (Rietveld) she cobbles up a 10”debut album, all by her lonesome in the attic on a REVOX 2track recorder with ao a guitar, some pots and pans, and a kazoo.

  Plays with Meike Touw’s (formerly of Gruppo Sportivo) band “Tutti Frutti”

Punklabel 1000 Idioten invite her to upgrade to 16 tracks to make an album: "Confetti"   Wins an Edison Award. (Grammy, in Dutch music)

In 1982: "Christmas was a friend of mine". Although it’s a Christmas song, and the Dutch don’t really do Christmas that commercially, it becomes a hit.

Albums "Origami" en "Cinema". Gigs in rockjoints with noisy bands in several line-ups.

  1. 1985.Popstar career screeches to halt as WEA chucks out “noncommercial” artists, like Lovsky













Lovsky starts doing music in commission for TV, radio, and commercials. Learns to work computer in studio of video artist Jaap Drupsteen.  Apple 2C, cv-out controls parameters in graphics created by Drupsteen. Joint project: Three Plays by Gertrude Stein for channel 4.

  1. 1986.Joins up with Henny Vrienten's  (“Doe Maar”) The Magnificent Seven;  live filmmusic in theatres.  Loads of fun. 


1991. M7 collapse under their own success. 







1992. Fay collaborates with graphic artist Joost Swarte on book/CD "Jopo in Mono". Back to the attic and the REVOX.

Does live music for cultural radioshow "ophef en vertier" every week with “the veggies” -as the presenter’s name is “Groenteman”- 93/95.











  

1994. First connection with Les Primitifs du Futur.


New songs, tours in theatres with her band La Bande Dessinée - fabulous line up: guitars and mandolins and banjos and lapsteels: Cok van Vuuren, bass and saw: GertJan Blom, trombone and violin: Joost Belinfante, and on  drums: Louis Debij.

Signs up with new label Basta: albums "La Bande Dessinée", "Numbers",

and Dutch songs on "Eigen Weg". Wins Golden Harp Award 2001.













Line up changes. “Maze of Mirrors”, ambitious attempt at pop music.   Drummer Rob Wijtman and guitarist Cok van Vuuren quit and start band Ocobar in 2004


With Pat Metheny and Metropole orchestra at North Sea Jazz!


2005. Composes music and does live foley for newly restored 1928 Jean Duvivier film “Le Mystère de la Tour Eiffel” , and two years later “Floor below” starring Mabel Normand for live performance at film festival












  1. 2008.Fay teams up with Laurens Joënsen and Jet Stevens.

  2. 2009.A new genre is born: “psychotic sobsongs for the academic”










Tours 2009/2010 with Eric Vloeimans & Jeroen van Vliet /Gatecrash in theatres under the aegis of “Jazz Impulse”.

Takes part in Gesamt Komposition with 17 composers for 1924 silent film “The adventures of mr West in the land of the Bolsheviks” - a soundtrack played live by the Metropole Orchestra at the Rotterdam International Film Festival on january 29, 2011. Acoustic tour with Laurens & Jet in small theatres, “De Bezemkast

2010  Fay’s turn in the estafette commission to set “Rooverslied” by Multatuli to music for the Woutertje Pieterse Prize. With Jet Stevens and Milan van Manen who turned Fay’s powerpoint pages.

Fay Lovsky is a singer songwriter, had an accidental hit in 80‘s Holland with “Christmas was a friend of mine”. Writes and performs her own songs, composes and produces music for film and theatre. Joined projects and bands - among which: Les Primitifs du Futur (F), The Magnificent Seven (theatre success in the 90’s), and Steam Power, and she sang with Pat Metheny on the North Sea Jazz festival.  Plays casual gigs with Arthur Ebeling.
